Instagram has gone to the dogs!

March 9, 2015

The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation has an Instagram account (@iloveanchorage) that drives their Live, Work & Play mission. The AEDC has a vision for our future. By 2025, Anchorage is the #1 city in America to Live. Work. & Play. Each week a different Anchorage resident hosts the @iloveanchorage Instagram account posting photos of their daily lives and how they live, work and play right here in Anchorage. In honor of this year’s Iditarod, the Instagram account will be hosted by dogs. Dog Tired and our furry clients will be hosting the account March 13 & 14th. Follow along on Instagram or through the links on our Facebook page. You may just see some of your furry kids busy at play.

Congratulations Miss Jenni!

February 26, 2015
Please join me in congratulating Miss Jenni on her recent promotion to Assistant Daycare Manager.  Jenni van Muijen has been with Dog Tired since April of 2013 and brings a variety of talents to our management staff. We are planning some new programs for expanding services. Our staff will be growing along with our family of Dog Tired clients.  Jenni will be an enormous help to Peg and I during the implementation process as well as maintaining our high standards of customer service.
Please take a moment to congratulate her on new position.

Dog Tired takes gold…..

February 18, 2015

The results are in for the first round of the 2015 Daycare Games and we took three gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal. Congratulations to Miss Jenni, Miss Meggan and Miss Peg for posting perfect scores in the “Recall” round, getting all of their students to recall within the specified event parameters.

This week we will compete in the group sit event. Teachers will be scored on the number of dogs they can get to sit simultaneously for four or more seconds. Stay tuned for round two results.

Let the games begin!

February 6, 2015

Dog Tired is joining the 2015 Daycare Games! Seventy-six teams from the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand have entered the games, presented by The Dog Gurus to focus on leadership and safety in off-leash dog play facilities. We practiced this week in order to be ready for our first event starting Monday! There are 32 teams in our competition class, and our team of handlers is competing at the Intermediate and Advanced levels. We’ll tell you more as the games continue thru the end of February. For us, it’s a chance to focus on some of the skills we already use every day to keep your pups safely engaged in their playgroups. It will be fun to see how we do compared to other teams too! Wish us luck!

2014 Pounds for Pets Challenge

November 26, 2014

Your Dog Tired Parent Association presents the 2014 Pounds for Pets Classroom Challenge. Each year we collect donations to purchase dog and cat food for local are food banks. Many families in our community are in need of assistance to put food on their tables. We often don’t stop to think that these families may include pets who are also going hungry. We identified this need a few years ago and now annually collect donations to provide much needed pet food to these families.

Linda with St. Francis House food pantry

Your donations help us purchase wholesale dog and cat food at a discounted rate to share with pets in need. Kimberly McCourtney, Alaska Garden & Pet representative and Dog Tired client, has arranged for the Iams/Eukanuba Corporation to donate one bag of cat or dog food for every five bags we purchase, stretching your donation dollar even further. Our goal is to raise enough to continue this program past the holidays. Donations accepted in the lobby of Dog Tired or by calling us at (907) 334-6962. Donations can also be mailed to Dog Tired Doggie Daycare 310 E. Fireweed Lane, Anchorage, AK 99503. Cash, checks and credit cards accepted.
